Piñas Bay, the land of plenty
Fishing Highlights - Feb 8 - 22, 2014
The bite has been good over the last few weeks and we are working the edge hard. The conditions were perfect for tailing fish with a 15-20 knot wind from the north. We are seeing more and more Blacks now and a number of anglers released a very big fish in the 500-600 lb range over the last two weeks. The Yellowfin Tuna are showing up sporadically on the edge and provided our guests with some great action on spinning tackle. Although most of the fish are in the 40-60 lb range, we did manage to haul in some big boys (120-150 lbs). Not too many Sailfish around this time but that’s pretty normal for this time of the year. Inshore has been good for those who chose to give it a try.
Guest Comments on their Tropic Star Lodge Experience
"The fishing, the incredible setting, the dining, the service, was all over the top. I’ve fished quite a few places, but nothing like TSL !! Between us, our party of 4 caught a nice range of species: sails, blue marlin, yellow fin tuna, cubera snapper, bull dorado, amberjack and a few others. The captains and first mates were all seasoned professionals and the fish never stood a chance! I know the 4 of us will be returning. What a special place TSL is. A truly incredible destination! BTW –I can’t tell you enough how much I miss those wonderful mornings from the lodge’s front patio. Views of a gorgeous, peaceful bay and my morning coffee. Too addicting!" .....Randy Sauceda
