What a Dorado!

Anglers Ken Warchal, Eric Klein and Joseph Gemmell released 4 Black Marlin, 3 Blue Marlin and 19 Sails!  Yvonne and Richard Buckley had a Grand Slam Day with a 600 lb Black, a 500 lb Blue and a Sail, all on 50 lb stand-up gear. Tom and Ginny Phillips released 2 Black Marlin, 3 Blue Marlin and 17 Sails. Roy Van Lanen released 3 Blacks, 1 Blue, 1 Striped Marlin and 16 Sailfish. Anthony Pietranello and Dennis O'Rourke released 2 Blacks, 3 Blues and 17 Sails. Martin Hirsch released 2 Black Marlin and 4 Blue Marlin during his week.

FEBRUARY:

Our good friend Guy Harvey arrived with his "new to fishing" friends Vincent and David Snell, Dennis Hunter, John Dinen, and Raymond "Tip" Delisser. Tip released 2 Blue Marlin and they raised 2 Blacks their first day out. Rick Hyman, Patti McCollum and Joseph Haley released 3 Marlin. Julie Haley released her first Blue Marlin and their boat also landed a 100 lb plus Yellowfin Tuna. John Peveto had a great day and released 2 Black Marlin. Keith Edwards caught his first Black and Blue Marlin and Bruce Brown his first Striped Marlin for a Grand Slam Marlin Day.

Nuestros buenos amigos from the Canary Islands and Spain, Manuel Ramirez and Pedro Bonny brought more of their friends. Pedro had an angler Super Grand Slam Day! We raised 75 Marlin and released 42 for the week! First time Colorado fisherman Andy Murray caught an Angler Grand Slam with a Black, Blue and Striped Marlin! Their day ended with a Super Grand Slam for the boat when friends Mark and Wesley released two Sails. That's TWO Super Grand Slams in one day!! Tim and Mark Everds, Wesley Schick and Andy Murray ended their week with 11 Marlin on two boats. Yvonne and Richard Buckley returned and had another Grand Slam Day, releasing a Black, two Blues and a Sail, and Yvonne got her work out on a 100 lb plus Tuna stand-up. From bonnie Scotland, Neil and John Cunningham each caught Blacks and Neil a 105 lb Tuna. Four boats finished the week landing 5 Marlin and one boat caught 6! A total of 16 anglers released their first ever Black Marlin, seven first Blue Marlin, 3 anglers got their first Striped Marlin and 9 their first Pacific Sail, all in one week!

By the third week in February, the Marlin fishing was happening! 65 Marlin were raised and 40 released. We recorded 26 Black Marlin strikes and released 19. This week produced 27 Blue Marlin strikes, 14 released 7 out of 12 Striped Marlin and 72 Sailfish. A new Lodge Record was set when Greg Nickels landed a 325 lb Yellowfin Tuna. Greg, Mark Schoenike, Jim Naja, and Gordon Nickels released a Blue Marlin, some Striped Marlin, and quite a few Sails, for another Boat Grand Slam!
