A Big Black Marlin Huffs and Puffs

The Wahoo, Snapper and Amberjack fishing was superb and George Poveromo and his great film team, Louis, Kevin and Rick, managed to get a second show in their short four-day stay with us, both inshore and offshore segments! Frank Konigseder fished 4 days and released a 350 lb Blue Marlin his first day out.

Well into September, the seas have been calm with a light chop under beautiful weather. The season ended, Saturday, September 11. The five boats fishing for three days, released  2 Black, 1 Blue Marlin and 103 Sailfish. Mr. Luis Carbo Jofra of Spain fished six days and ended his week with a 205 lb Yellowfin Tuna, a 350 lb Blue Marlin and numerous Sailfish. Tom Jensen from Norway and Tim Jansen from Florida each caught Black Marlin estimated at over 500 pounds. Tim's crew was using a live Yellowfin Tuna. He and his friend Mike Wilson ended their 3-days releasing 19 Sails, and some large Wahoo. Our other group, nine guests from Norway, released 64 Sails and hooked some large Blacks in three days. Out of five boats in our Marlin Special, only one boat failed to catch a Marlin. The last day of fishing in 2005, our guests released 50 Sailfish, 2 Black and 1 Blue Marlin!  Another season ends, but somehow the fishing never does in Piñas Bay!

We are happy to report the early months of 2005 are almost fully booked. With just six boats available in July, August, and September - we anticipate these boats to fill-up quickly. It is never too soon to make your next years' reservation. If you've already booked for 2005, consider Piñas twice next year and experience two completely different seasons

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Adrienne Caston, Sid Little, and Brandon Wilder for joining Team Tropic Star this season. Also a "Hasta Luego" to Brendan and Besty O'Regan who left behind some "concrete" memories!  Thanks to you all and especially to Ursula, Hennie and our great staff. It was another magical season!
