Well, it’s here, the final week of fishing for the 2009 Season. We welcomed our arriving guests with tall tales of the previous week’s catch. The marlin and sailfish were biting offshore and again the yellowfin tuna bite continued to be incredible.  I literally had to tell our anglers to release most of them as we could hold no more fillets at the lodge.

Roy Hodges released his first Black Marlin estimated at 400 lbs and his wife Stephanie had her chance at her first big Blue Marlin around 450 lbs and got the release. Jorgelina Oliva returned to Pinas Bay for her second visit and this time she released her first Blue Marlin estimated at 400 lbs. She also battled a huge Yellowfin Tuna which tipped the scales at 160 lbs. Bill Pinkley also released his first Blue Marlin this week and Irwin “Carlos” Libeskind released his first Blue Marlin estimated at 500 lbs. He also released his first Pacific Sailfish and boated a giant Yellowfin Tuna that weighted 180 lbs. Robert Neal released his first Blue Marlin. Tom Pinkley released his first Pacific Sailfish this week.

I find myself thinking about all the great friends I’ve met, the many stories at the dining room table and off course all the tall tales of the big fish caught and released and off course the stories of the big one that got away. Until next season…..
