As anticipated, the month of September has been nothing short of spectacular Marlin fishing.

Offshore, the bait is stacked up along the edge and gigantic schools of yellowfin tuna, dorado, sailfish and marlin gorge themselves. Our lucky guests have all heard about the September bite that occurred last year and came to experience the fantastic fishing Tropic Star Lodge has been known to provide.

This week we once again welcome the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) back to Pinas Bay. This is their second consecutive September visit as TSL hosted the IGFA Expedition Series (Tropic Star, The Return), where anglers team up with the pros like Raleigh Werking, Guy Harvey, and Capt. Karl Anderson, for 3 days to pursue Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Sailfish and other offshore pelagics in some perhaps the most productive sportfishing grounds in the world. Clint and Lisa Everett, Jehn Thornson, William “MR.Bill” Crozier, Robert Gillian, Michael McElRoy, Rick Hoefer, George Matthews, Pat Cochran and Jerry Richmond were the lucky anglers.

Lisa released her first Pacific Blue Marlin on day one. Clint followed shortly after releasing his first Pacific Blue Marlin. Jehn, Robert and Rick also released their first Pacific Blue Marlin. Rick also scored his first Pacific Sailfish. The group  of 10 anglers together released 2 Black Marlin, 11 Blue Marlin, 20 Sailfish, 22 Yellowfin Tunas and 7 Dorado over 3 days of fishing. Andrzej Bilip was also back at Tropic Star Lodge. This was to be his best trip here releasing 2 Black Marlin and 4 Blue Marlin over 6 days of fishing. Other catches of note were by Michael Burwell who released his first Pacific Sailfish.
