As we move through this month the fishing continues to be good. Bait is gathering in large numbers on the reef. This is surely a sign of things to come. We can only expect the bite to get better. Offshore, loads of bait are gathering in the trash lines, another indicator of billfish.

This week, Bryan Bumsted brought his dad Roy down to Tropic Star for his 60th birthday present. They both warmed up on sailfish on the first day out and on day 2 Roy had his present. He hooked into an estimated 450 lb Black Marlin and after a long battle got his release. Happy Birthday Mr. Roy! He also released his first Roosterfish estimated at around 60 lbs.

Richard Kinzalow brought his grandson Spencer Woerner down to Pinas Bay this week. Spencer wasted no time. He released first Pacific Sailfish on this trip. Spencer also fought and lost 2 nice Black Marlins to pulled hooks. Hard luck amigo; you’ll get him next time.

Bill Gordy and his wife Valentine were also down this week. This couple is no stranger to Pinas Bay. Bill and his wife had lots of fun both offshore and inshore and on the 4th day Bill released his first Black Marlin estimated at 400 lbs. Great job!

Other highlights this week include Nelson Saldanha who caught his first Black Marlin. His son Nelson Jr. released his first Pacific Sailfish and Americo Madeira also released his first Pacific Sailfish. Justin Jensen, Jesse Kirk, his wife Milo, Joe New and Sharon New all released their first Pacific Sailfish this week.
