KIDS CLUB

TSL together with the IGFA are working hard at introducing kids to sport fishing. We have a great incentive to bring the kids down. June - August, kids come free! (1 kid per fishing adult)
More and more sails continue to show up to the south. The water has gotten a lot better and we are getting more bites. Some crews have reported seeing tailing marlins but they seem uninterested in the baits. The tunas continue to bite offshore so many anglers opted for chasing them on light tackle for a day of action and sore muscles.
This week we hosted the 2009 Tropic Star Billfish Challenge organized by Scott and Diane Locke. There were six teams competing in the tournament, two anglers per team, for a total of twelve anglers.
The registered teams were as follows;
Team 1: Diane Locke and Lisa Everett
Team 2: Clint Everett and Susan Coleman
Team 3: Scott Parsons and Cindy Mitchell
Team 4: Kevin McKosky and Peter Mitchell
Team 5: William “Bill” Crozier and Lawrence Morris
Team 6: Crayton Greene and Gwen Hahn
The tournament featured light tackle only; 8lb, 12 lb and 16 lb test where more points were awarded for anglers releasing billfish on the lighter line class. Day 1 was slow with only three sailfish released. Day 2 was better with 9 sailfish released. The bite went off on Day 3 with 21 released sailfish and lots of action. On days 4 and 5 a further 16 sailfish were released for a grand total of 49 sailfish releases. The tournament results were as follows.
