Fishing
The sailfish are showing up along the coast and we are having some action with them. They seem to be uninterested in feeding like we normally would expect but in the evenings they were more willing. The tuna continue to provide us with some fast action on light tackle and some anglers got their thrills by tossing flies into the schools. 12-14 wt outfits work well with these powerful fish.

Black MarlinEric So and his fishing buddy Van Tien Phan visited us at the lodge this week and on the first day out Van released a lovely Black Marlin estimated at 350 lbs. This was to be his first Black Marlin release. Eric did not score on marlin but released an estimated 70 lb Roosterfish. They both had plenty of action on the yellowfin tunas and Eric even took a good sided one on fly.

92 lb RoosterfishDavid Mc Nichols released a MONSTER Roosterfish this week. From the length and girth measurements he took we estimated the fish at an incredible 92 lbs. These extra large roosterfish are not uncommon in this area also. Many anglers commonly release fish in the 70-80 lb range. There is a great potential for a world record at Pinas Bay and it’s only a matter of time until another lucky angler gets a trophy.

John Perez also released a trophy Roosterfish estimated at 70 lbs.

Phil Hart, Eric Adamson, Charles Schaver and Mike Stice all released their first Pacific Sailfish this week.
