KIDS CLUB

TSL together with the IGFA are working hard at introducing kids to sport fishing. We have a great incentive to bring the kids down. June - August, kids come free! (1 kid per fishing adult)
What an eventful week. The fishing exploded offshore; the trash lines were really thick and a number of large logs, even entire trees were drifting offshore. This was an ideal scenario for our boats. The baits were stacked up around the structures and many large dorados, tunas and off course the marlin and sailfish were patrolling the perimeters looking for an easy meal.
John and his wife Ellen Bass brought their son Gardner, and daughters, Margaret and Sarah down for a summer fishing trip. This family had a real Tropic Star experience. All of them released billfish. Gardner released his first Black Marlin and Blue Marlin. He also released a bunch of sails and earned himself a Grand Slam. John released his first Blue Marlin estimated at 400 lbs. Ellen tried her hand at the billfish and released her first Blue Marlin and Pacific Sailfish. Margaret and Sarah also released their Pacific Sailfish this week. John and Gardener released 3 Blue Marlin in one day. Some of the days we also spent inshore and even then they had great luck. Ellen released a monster Roosterfish estimated at 70 lbs. They also got a couple of other nice sized roosters, cubera snappers and amberjacks. A total of 6 marlins, and 11 sails were released on this boat. Congrats to all the Bass!
Dean and his son Zachary Bornstein and John and his son Jonathan Cabral also fish with us this week. They had a great week offshore and caught many fish. Jonathan released his first Black Marlin estimated at 350 lbs and Pacific Sailfish. Zachary released his first Blue Marlin and Pacific Sailfish. Dean and John were quite happy to let the boys’ fish most of the time but also got in the action. They both released their first Pacific Sailfish, both over 100 lbs. They had a good deal of action on some monster dorados in the 40-60 lb range.
Martin and his son Matthew Bronstein were also here this week. Both released a Blue Marlin each and had loads of fun with the lighter tackle on sailfish and some huge dorados and yellowfin tunas. The highlight of Matthew’s trip would have to be the massive Rainbow Runner he caught on the reef, a now pending Junior IGFA Record for Rainbow Runner weighing in at 12.8 lbs.
The Phillips and Davies family of 16 anglers also joined us at Pinas Bay this week. Nicholas Davies released his first Blue Marlin estimated at 200 lbs. Wylie, Blaine, Elizabeth, Natalie Mark and Colin Phillips all released their first Pacific Sailfish. Also, both Sophie and Elizabeth Davies released their first Pacific Sailfish.
Other catches of note were by John Pinkett who released his first Blue Marlin estimated at 300 lbs and first Pacific Sailfish. Greg Hamilton released his first Black Marlin estimated at 350 lbs and his first Pacific sailfish. His wife Tracy Hamilton released her first Pacific Sailfish.
Another great week at Tropic Star!
