Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado
As we roll through the month of January the fishing has been pretty good. Both marlin and Sailfish are biting and there seem to be more concentrated offshore, on the 100 fathom line. There's way more Blue Marlin and Blacks this season and the fish are really big, many in the 500 lb range are being released. We are also happy to see the big numbers of Sailfish this season, There is also no shortage of HUGE Dorado offshore. Some fish were taken in the 60-70 lb range.
Mike Curtis released his first Black Marlin last week that was estimated at 500 lbs. Gary March released his first Pacific Blue Marlin estimated at 550 lbs; really big fish. Greg Zinzmeyer had luck this week and released his first Black Marlin that went 450 lbs and Mark Doolittle released his first Black Marlin around 400 lbs. Jim Keller and Kitty Roth both released their first Pacific Blue Marlin, 400 lbs and Terry Roth also released his first Pacific Blue Marlin estimated at 450 lbs. and Pacific Sailfish, 90 lbs. Matt Duchscherer also released his first Pacific Blue Marlin, 400 lbs.
Doug Pritt was very happy with his first Pacific Blue Marlin release and this fish want 400 lbs. Lee Mason released his first Black Marlin, 300 lbs, Pacific Blue Marlin estimated 250 lbs and Pacific Sailfish around 90 lbs. Robert Stinson released his first two Pacific Blue Marlin; 350 and 250 lbs. John Frazer and Bill Jesberger released their first Pacific Blue Marlin, 350 lbs. Both David Novak and Mike Roth released a nice pair of Pacific Blue Marlin that went around 250 lbs.
Dyon Armstrong released his first Pacific Blue Marlin in the 300 lb range and also released his first Pacific Sailfish, 100 lbs. Nick Dimotisis released his first Pacific Blue Marlin estimated at 375 lbs. Peter Novak and Matt Duchscherer released their first Pacific Sailfish around 120 lbs. Robert Allen also got his first Pacific Blue Marlin around 280 lbs and Pacific Sailfish, 80 lbs. Brad Johnson, Dave Novak and Olie Amar all released their first Pacific Sailfish estimated at 100 lbs and Pat Mere released his first Pacific Sailfish around 90 lbs. Ed Metzger also released his first Pacific Sailfish, 80 lbs.
