Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado

Cool Sailfish JumpChristina Satterfirld DoradoThe Christmas Season is upon us and I’m pleased to report that the fishing has been off the charts. Both Black Marlin and Blue Marlin, Sailfish and loads of Dorado have arrived to our shores in great numbers and they are right on schedule for the holidays. The reef is loaded with bait and the conditions are absolutely perfect with blue skies and calm seas.

The first great fish story took place just a few days ago when brothers Jackson and Tyler Babb hooked into a monstrous Black Marlin and fought the huge fish for over 4 hours on 50 lb test line. They both shared in this great battle and finally got to see all 750 + lbs of His Majesty the Black Marlin. Both Jackson and Tyler said that this was their dream come true and an experience they both would remember for the rest of their life. Jackson also released his first Pacific Sailfish. Their father Bruce also released his first Black Marlin estimated at 400 lbs. Their buddy Travis Brown released their first Pacific Sailfish around 110 lbs. Together the group of 6, fishing 3 boats, released 9 Marlin, over 35 Sailfish and 100+ Dorado.

Fishing show host Jimmy Nelson from Extreme Fishing Adventures was here filming a 3 part fishing show for NBC and I had the pleasure of co-hosting the series with him. We had a phenomenal 6 days of fishing and released 3 Blue Marlin, one of them 500+ lbs, a few Sails, a 200+ lb Yellowfin Tuna and loads of Dorado, both on conventional and Spinning tackle. The biggest one was an absolute monster estimated at 65 lbs. The shows are scheduled to air in March 2013.

John Cubit also had a fantastic week of fishing releasing his first Black Marlin estimated at 400 lbs, Blue Marlin, 400 lbs and Pacific Sailfish. Rob McCoy released his first Pacific Blue Marlin around 300 lbs. The Hotchkiss family was also here and had their fair share of great fishing. Both Luke and Brooke released both their first Pacific Blue Marlin estimated at 350 lbs and Pacific Sailfish, and Lisa and Macy also released their first Pacific Sailfish.

Austin Payne released his first Pacific Blue Marlin estimated at 450 lbs and Pedro Ramirez, Troy Pfeifer, Nicholas DiJoseph, Craig Reisdorf and Jimmy Payne also scored their first Pacific Blue Marlin in the 350 lb range. Junior angler Jack Satterfield (8 years old) also caught his first Blue Marlin around 340 lbs and his sister Christina, just 5 years old, released her first Pacific Sailfish estimated at 80 lbs. What a great two weeks of fishing…..

On behalf of the TSL Team we will all like to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
