Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado

Marlin in the airAs we roll through our favorite month, January, the fishing has been excellent. The crews are really getting into the fish and there’s so much bait offshore, more than we’ve seen is several years. Black Marlin are showing up in huge numbers and our guests are having steady action, both on the reef and out on the drop-off.  The sails are also biting well. And is always an added bonus offshore. We are also seeing increasing numbers of Dorado and Yellowfin Tuna are beginning to show up on the 100 fathom line.  Inshore fishing is also getting better and a couple of guests are having some great action with Cubera Snapper.

Marlin be brought in close to the boat so it can be releaseBoth Eddie Flack and his wife Lisa visited us for the second time in a month and this time both released their first Black Marlin both estimated at 450 lbs. Lisa’s Black was a very special fish as it completed her Royal Slam and get this, it was caught on a 20lb class spinning rod. Congratulations Lisa on your spectacular catch. Peggy Herum, Vicki Johnson, Bill Long and Jason Lachut also had great luck and released their first Black Marlin that all went an impressive 400 lbs.

Paul Bent and Capt. Tony Bozzella from Florida joined us at Piñas and had a spectacular week of fishing. Together they released 6 Marlin and Tony got a shot of his first Pacific Blue Marlin and got the release. Judy Scheuerman released her first Black Marlin estimated at 450 lbs.
