Marlin, Swordfish, Sailfish, Dorado, Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper
What an amazing last two weeks of fishing at TSL. The Marlin bite has been getting better and better by the day and the ocean seems full of life; especially offshore. Bait balls are endless offshore on the edge and pods of Sailfish are gorging themselves on them. We have also been seeing a good amount of trophy sized Dorado some in the 50-60 lb class, and schools of Yellowfin Tuna are making their annual migration through our area. Inshore has also been on fire and our guests had a blast catching some of our resident gladiators; Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Mullet Snapper and a bunch of 40-60lb Almaco Jacks on the reef. If you read my last report, I mentioned a little more rain than usual for this time of year and this last two weeks has been the same.
James and Christine Schneider joined us last week and had an unforgettable TSL fishing experience. He released his first Striped Marlin a huge fish estimated at 275 lbs and also released a big Blue Marlin that went 400 lbs. Christine got several shots at Sailfish including her first estimated at around 120 lbs.
Our regular guests, Bill and Nikki Wilson brought their grandsons down to TSL for their summer vacation and all has a blast. Young Will Wilson released his first Black Marlin estimated at 400 lbs and also released 5 Pacific Sailfish. His brother Austin also released 5 Sailfish during his stay. The entire family spent some days inshore exploring the coastline and had great luck with Roosterfish, including some that were in the 50-60 lb range.
IGFA Record holder Kyle Vincent was at it again last week and this time he nailed the record for Mullet Snapper on 50lb test. His fish was caught on the reef and weighed in at 15.4 lbs. Other great catches were by Colin Robinson, who released his first Blue Marlin estimated at 400 lbs and Jerry Brady who also released his first Blue Marlin, 350 lbs. Mark Johansen released his first Pacific Sailfish on fly tackle. Mike and Chris Owens, Gina Haase and Adam Crandall all scored their first Pacific Sailfish as well.
Got another bunch of great photos from last couple of weeks. Hope you enjoy them.
