Hennie & Ursula Marais manage to keep you in fish stories. |
April 11-16, 2004
We are now in the beginning of the rainy and sailfish season. The rain is
sporadic as are the sails.
We found sails in small groups producing double and triple-headers. The main
migration should happen any day now and we expect it to coincide with the
rain. This will bring nutrients to the sea, sardine boils and "voila" we have our
sailfish.
The Action:
We released 170 sailfish with most boats fishing only three days with our
half-week package.
The Miss Canada with Captain Jose released 39 sails followed by Darien and
England with 38 and 24 sail released.
We had good inshore fishing with 50 lb plus snappers and roosterfish.
With less time being fished for marlin we only released two marlin - a blue and
a black. John Guitar released a nice black marlin - his first - on the Miss Panama.
Mike Barcott was very proud of his son Daniel, releasing a nice blue marlin.
Richard Jandl has been coming for a number of years and has brought his sons
and grandsons before, this year he brought his brother who was not sure how he
would feel about fishing for billfish but after releasing a good number of
sails and then a black marlin he is hooked and had a "Whale" of a time!
First blue marlin:
Daniel Barcott
First black marlin:
Robert K Jandl and John Guitar
First sailfish:
Robert Jangle, Robert Davis, Donna Slivka, Troy Slivka, Pam Cassel, Jackie
McCradle, Dennis Caillouette, Harry Strunk, TJ Shrunk, Steve Arch, Mary
Matheson, Adam Aitchison
Weather, calm seas with average fishing
Tight Lines,
Hennie
