April 18-24, 2004
The sailfish action that we are so used to here at Tropic Star Lodge, was
illusive this last week and we are still waiting for the bait to move in.
We managed to release 108 sails and one black marlin. Tuna fishing is still very good.
The Action:
Many anglers opted to fly fish this week and these guys almost outfished the
conventional tackle guys.
The Miss Panama released 6 sails on fly, and 11 tunas. Well done to Rob
Swartzenborg and John Canavari, they had to work hard for every fish that came to
them.
Adrian Necci, Jermoe Prunet, Tom Mountain, David Hart and Christian van Wyk
from England, fished the Miss Puerto Rico with 15 sails released. The Miss Canada and
Miss Tropic Star released 20 sails.
Len Belcaro and Dick Bublitz enjoyed the sails with Raleigh Werking but sure
liked the inshore possibilities that is still mainly untouched here.
Russel Inserra, Kevin Keelan fished the Miss England for 17 releases. They
invited our barman Edgar for a days fishing and he released his first sailfish.
Lynn and Kenneth Sylvia and Dymphna and Allan Saverese fished the Miss I Star
for 3 days, after some technical difficulties they released 5 sails, 38 tuna
and boy can these girls laugh - thanks to barman Edgar for entertaining them.
Howard Kalka, Vito Portera, Leland Sprinkle, Tony Cuomo, Eli Weinberg and
Michael O' Reilly fished the Miss Australia for 19 sails released. The Miss France had 6
releases and the Miss Scandia had 16 releases (most on fly) - well done guys under very
difficult fly conditions.
Ron Castellanos and his son Chris had a really good time. Ron was happy for his son releasing his first black marlin!
