The Sailfish bite is HOT - this past week we released 550 sailfish, 3 black marlin and 2 striped marlin!

Sam Metcalf
, his son and friend Quintun fished the Miss England. They released 33 sailfish during their half week! Thanks for entertaining Gabriella, boys.

Carol Schorr, our old time friend revisited us. Fishing hard for marlin she released 2 black marlin in one day along with 22 sailfish. Well done as always Carol!

Captain Walter on the Darien put anglers John Mohammed on a black marlin, Eric, Chris Duteyrich, Patric Davidson, Timothy Griffen and Mike Hamilton made up the team. They fished the Alaska as well. They released 44 sailfish on the Alaska and 29 on the Darien. These were first timers to Tropic Star all the way from Canada and we hope to have you all back.

Fred Fairclough frequented the lodge and about six years ago promised his son Jake that they would return after they had to cut his trip short due to a medical emergency. They returned with a big group and had a super time. Fred and his son Jake, Herman Franks with his son Michael, Rick Woodbury, Robert Moore, Fred Morris and his son Lars, Cramer Talboe and son Craig, Bill Martin, Anthony Beatty, Ken Shields and David McCombs together had a fun time releasing 277 sailfish between them! A good number as some of the group were fly fishing too. Bill Martin won an award for his fight with a bucket “fish”. With this group, taking a nap while out fishing was not a good idea.

Sandra Kaupe, Maryanne O Donnell, Don and Serena Wilson together with their long time Captain Frank Branch fished the Miss Island Star. They released 79 sailfish and 1 striped marlin. Both Sanda and Maryanne fished TSL in the 60's and had some wonderful memories. Good to have you back, visit sooner next time!

Klaude and Donna Kaseman from Montana fished the Miss Canada, their first offshore experience and they released 58 sailfish - boy, are they spoiled for life! Klaude really impressed everybody when he released 35 sailfish on his second ever day of sailfishing!

Dr. Alan Hartman with his sons Adam and Justin returned and fished the Costa Rica. They had another good trip and I´m sure they will be back.

We were very proud of our 2 year old, Gabriella, when she caught her first 4 Corinoa, (not sure of spelling) bait fish on handline off the Miss USA in the bay of Piñas.
