April 7 - April 14
This week we were blessed with a good number of Marlin and tons of Tuna.
Phil Miner brought down a few of his friends to enjoy the fishing he has had here on previous occasions. Greg Gosnell caught his first Striped Marlin and Greg Akers boated his first Blue Marlin. Paul Tyler added his first Roosterfish of 20lbs.
The rest of the group Paul Raudenbush, Thom Huff, Ron Longo and William Kilgannon also caught another Pacific Sailfish and a Striped Marlin. They also caught a lot of Yellowfin tuna and 3 Roosterfish.
Judge Ken Sharp and Mr. Conway Kittredge were joined for a week of amazing Marlin fishing by their friends, Robert Stine, Ted Eidson, Todd Tatum, Randy Fields, Charles Trulock, Jeff Douglas and John Overchuck. Ted, Randy, Charles and John all caught their first Black Marlin, Jeff and Todd not only hooked their first Black Marlin, but also caught their second Black Marlin later in the week too. The Judge did not miss out on the action and also caught his 8th Black Marlin. In between all this Marlin action they found some time to catch 13 Yellowfin tuna and a number of Jacks.
Previous visitors Bill and Shane Cowan were surprised as young Shane caught a Tarpon of about 100lbs! These fish are very rare in the area since they are Atlantic fish that cross through the canal. They also had a lot of fun catching 34 Yellowfin tuna on various types of tackle.
Young Hobie Richey was here with the purpose of catching the Black Marlin that had eluded him on previous visits. Accompanied by his father Dr. Hobie, he was in for the greatest time of his life. An afternoon's fishing on Saturday produced a Pacific Sailfish for him. Sunday proved even better as Hobie caught his first Black Marlin followed by another later in the day. To add to this he caught 1 Yellowfin tuna, 1 Roosterfish of around 40lbs and a Snapper of 50lbs. The following day was just as exciting with Hobie nailed 2 Black Marlin bringing his total for the week to 4 Black Marlin and 1 Sailfish – WOW!
Bob Keller brought his sons and friends here to experience the joy of catching Black Marlin, and enjoy they did. While sharing the boats Spain and Canada, they all experienced some real hot action. Bill Pomy caught his first Striped Marlin. Robert Keller II, Bob Keller and Scott Keller all catching their first Black Marlin. Kim Ullman was only here for half of the week and was ecstatic with his first Blue and Black Marlin. They also caught a 30lb Rooster fish and 13 Yellowfin tuna.
Although they only spent 4 short days with us both Toby Nelson and John Forgatch both caught their first Black Marlin- 2 beautiful fish of about 350lbs each. They were accompanied by Toby’s father Doug and his longtime fishing friend Roger Shulas.
Ed Ewell's trip was full of excitement with his first Black Marlin.
Catch for the Week:
Black Marlin 19
Blue Marlin 4
Striped Marlin 3
Sailfish 2
Yellow fin tuna 99
Dorado 3
Amberjack 1
Rooster fish 5
Snapper 5
