The Action:
This week we had 4 boats fishing. The weather was unusually stormy and the seas were choppy to rough, but our guests still managed to catch 83 sailfish! The sailfish love the rain, but not so true for the marlin. This was the only week since running the Guaranteed Marlin Special that all six people will get their airfare refunded. They should have been here last week!
Amber and James Bass here on their honeymoon caught and released 23 sailfish in addition to yellowfin tuna and Spanish mackerel.
The Whitcomb family didn't let hurricane Charley get in their way, they had to charter in a day late - but they were fishing by early Monday morning. They came with their two young sons Zachary and Taylor and fished inshore with live bait. Those boys took over the cockpit and caught a few wahoo over 25 lbs, Spanish mackerel, blue runner and yellowfin tuna. They also both caught their first Pacific sailfish as well as their Mom, Yvonne. They ended their trip with Zachary catching an estimated 80 lb roosterfish.
This fish probably was a Jr. Angler World Record, but it was released at the boat. We look forward to them coming back next year to catch a bigger one.
The Arkansas boys Martin "Martino" Silverfield, Chip Garner, Cliff Cabaness, and John Newcomb (Mr. Bonita) kept us entertained every evening after a hard day of catching several sailfish, dolphin, amberjack, wahoo and a few very large Cubera snapper.
Karen Radke from New York caught her fair share of large snapper and yellowfin tuna. She caught three 50 lb plus wahoo fishing with Dagoberto and Wilmington on the Miss Tropic Star. She also caught and released 14 sailfish. Way to go girl!
Mike Andrews took a half day off to fish with his friends, Bobby Hummer and Jack Wagner. In one morning, they caught 14 wahoo ranging from 25 to 45 lbs.
Tight Lines,
Adrienne
