Hennie & Ursula Marais manage to keep you in fish stories. |
Aug 18 - Aug 24
Now that Jeff and Patricia Daugherty have found a piece of paradise in the hills of Panama they decided to come and enjoy some of the other attractions it offers. They got more than they bargained for in their short stay. Both Jeff and Pat caught their first Pacific Sailfish. Then when they went inshore they could just not go wrong. Pat caught a monster Rooster of 70lbs and Jeff a smaller one of 40lbs. Then there were Amberjack of up to 40lbs and Wahoo up to 20lbs. They ended their 4 days with 8 sailfish.
Harold and Marie Putallaz returned for some of the great fishing they had on their last trip and were not to be disappointed. Harold had a blast catching 7 Sailfish and a lovely Blue Marlin of about 350lbs. Then they had one of their best days fishing ever, when they caught 6 Wahoo, 5 Tuna, 2 Large Roosterfish and a Cubera Snapper.
Bill and Michelle Worden were on honeymoon when they came here 2 years ago. Although the action was a bit slower this time around they still had plenty of fun.
They also got into the sailfish and a Blue Marlin. Bill got the catch of his life when they went inshore and he got a Tarpon of about 60lbs. They also caught wahoo and roosterfish.
Journalist, Bruce Morris, came to see what Tropic Star was all about. In his 2 short days he had the best fishing of his life. He caught his first Striped Marlin and 3 Sailfish on day one and then went inshore the next day. He had a ball there and caught 3 Roosters, 3 Tuna, 3 Wahoo, 4 Jacks and 2 Pompano. He left us a very happy angler.
Long time friends of Hennie and Ursula, Willem and Catharina Steenkamp, came to visit with their family. Willem and his son Francois both got to catch their first Pacific Sailfish. They enjoyed their off days at the white beach and visiting local Indian villages.
Paul and Gillian Stokes had a fun 3 days fishing aboard the Puerto Rico catching Wahoo, Sailfish and Dorado. The Wahoo biting off a few more lures than they would have liked, but still great fun.
Catch for the Week:
Blue Marlin 2
Striped Marlin 1
Pacific Sailfish 29
Yellowfin Tuna 23
Dorado 26
Amberjack 4
Roosterfish 10
Snapper 3
Wahoo 25
