The Action:
This week we had one boat fishing six days and two boats fishing four days. The weather has been typical rainy season and the seas a light chop. In total there were 32 sailfish released and no marlin. Inshore fishing consisted of wahoo, tuna, dorado, spanish mackerel, and cubera snapper. The bait fish were on the reef as well as many dolphin. There were also quite a few whales spotted both offshore and inshore close to the rocks.
The Kim family from British Columbia fishing on the Miss Canada with Capt. Jose had a great week. Better then a trip to Disney World agreed the three kids! Peter, Geraldine, Natasha, Vanessa, and Johnathon all caught their first pacific sailfish. They had triple strikes and in one day released 13. Natasha caught her first amberjack and Cubera snapper weighing in at 32 pounds. Not bad for a petite girl of 9 years. 12 year old Johnathon's greatest moment was releasing a very large sailfish.
Brian and Elizabeth Walsh from the Florida Keys live baited every day in the hopes of catching a marlin. They released 7 sailfish in their search and Brian released an estimated 350 pound hammerhead shark. They also caught yellow fin tuna for us to prepare sashimi every evening. But no marlin! They were disappointed but had a good time anyway.
Ted Pierce and Russell Todd fishing on the Miss Australia with Capt. Candelo had a very busy week of inshore and offshore fishing. In one day they caught 18 yellow fin at an average size of 20 pounds. They also provided the lodge with fresh wahoo every night for dinner. They both also released 7 sailfish.
Tight Lines,
Adrienne
