Hennie & Ursula Marais manage to keep you in fish stories. |
Aug 25 - Sept 1
Janet La Prime caught her first Pacific Sailfish while fishing together with Brian Jordan on their short 3 day trip here. They had some of the best sailfish action catching up to 8 Sailfish in a day. Then there was Dorado of 40lbs.
Though things were a little slow to start off with for Sophie and Stephane Uzan, they did get some great inshore action though, catching 35lb Amberjack and 55lb Roosterfish, it all went great on their last day when they caught a 300lb Blue Marlin and had plenty of Sailfish action.
A week of fishing at it’s best is all that can be said for the fun that was had by Keith Talley and Jan Deborah. There was fish of all sorts just wanting to jump on their hooks, 23 of those were Sailfish and 1 Striped Marlin. Then when they went inshore it was the turn of the 5 monster Roosterfish of up to 65lbs as well as 11 Jack’s and a couple of Mackerel. At the end of the week their total fish count was 55 fish of varying species. How much more fun can you have?
This week Brent Cenac brought his friends down to Tropic Star. Many of them new to the sport of billfishing. Randall Brown, Scott Branting and Jason Weigand got a double first with their first Blue Marlin and first Pacific Sailfish. Allen Morris, Michael Maenza, Larry Fowler, Tim Henning, Doug Grasier and Joseph Bonanno all caught their first Pacific Sailfish. Scott Brantin caught another Tarpon of about 70lbs. Larry Fowler had a good tussle with a Tuna while Randall Brown and Tim Henning had fun with some monster Roosterfish of up to 70lbs. With the guys switching boats each day there was plenty of action for all with big Dorado and monster Yellowfin tuna- the biggest being 254lbs caught by Keith Talley and plenty up to 150lbs.
Catch for the Week:
Blue Marlin 6
Striped Marlin 1
Pacific Sailfish 133
Yellowfin tuna 24
Dorado 53
Amberjack 2
Roosterfish 12
Snapper 2
Tarpon 1
