Another Exciting week at Tropic Star Lodge with some clients very pleasantly surprised with our August fishing!

Clive Taylor After his son, Sam, caught a Grand Slam the previous week, Clive Taylor thought it couldn’t have been any better. Well it did. Clive caught a Blue Marlin which gave him his Grand Slam for the week. Then he caught a 100lb Tarpon which was more significant to Clive than the Marlin. Two more happy anglers left to return to Great Britain.

Alex Marshall knew the fishing was good here but who would have thought that Alex, his son Phillips and daughter Lavonne, would get a Grand Slam on their first day’s fishing. Phillips released his first Black Marlin, Alex his first Blue Marlin and Lavonne her first Pacific Sailfish! Day 2 saw Phillips catch his first Striped Marlin giving him a personal Grand Slam. Their third day produced some good Roosterfish. Needless to say the Marshalls left feeling ecstatic after 3 days of fishing with 3 Marlin, 17 Pacific Sailfish and 5 Rooster fish, wow!

Rob Pullen and his son Rob Pullen III came hoping that Rob would release his first billfish. Not only did he achieve that but he also caught a nice Blue Marlin of 350lbs this was his first Marlin. They got into some good Dorado fishing of up to 50lbs.

Ed Repins and his son Andris came a week after his business partner, Jeff Clarke and his son Will. I am not sure who had more fun but Andris caught a Black Marlin and a number of sailfish while dad caught sailfish. They also caught 13 Rooste fish between them in 2 days.

Bill Sparks together with family and friends got more than they bargained for during their trip to Tropic Star Lodge. Will Sparks, Bill Sparks Sr. Jake Sparks and Rob Bergholdt all had the good fortune of catching their first Pacific Sailfish. Bill Sparks and Larry Snedden released their first Pacific Sailfish and first Blue Marlin while Casey Sparks and Dennis Snedden caught their first Pacific Sail fish and first Black Marlin. While catching the sailfish there were a number of double hookups which called for a lot of dancing around the deck. They were also rewarded with Roosterfish of up to 70lbs on their inshore fishing days. Bill and Dennis also had a good workout with some Yellowfin tuna. Bill landed one of 108 lbs after an hours fight. Dennis was happy with his 85lbs Yellowfin Tuna.

Thomas Donohue and Randy Strauss also got in on the sailfish action fishing with Libardo, catching 10 Sailfish in 3 days. Inshore fishing also brought them luck with a number of wahoo and roosterfish.

Brother’s Jeff and Hal Price had a lot of fun fishing aboard the Spain with Maso. They each caught their first Pacific Sailfish on their first day of fishing. Hal caught a huge Dorado of about 40lbs.

Becky Love and Irma Marengo from the magazine Panama 9’ 80’ came to experience Tropic Star Lodge and what it had to offer. They were not disappointed as they each caught their first Pacific Sailfish. They ended their day with 6 Sailfish.

Catch for the Week:
Black Marlin 4
Blue Marlin 6
Striped Marlin 1
Pacific Sailfish 135
Yellowfin Tuna 22
Dorado 21
Amberjack 6
Roosterfish 37
Snapper 15
