Dec 23 - Dec 30
Santa has brought us LOADS of Marlin this week.
40 Marlin were released this past week with most boats fishing only 3 days!
The Action:
INCREDIBLE!
Every boat I see coming up to the dock right now has numerous Marlin Flags. For me the excitement is UNBELEIVABLE!
Rookie Captain Gilberto just pulled up to the dock with 4 Marlin flags. Darcie Hargis - released 3 Black Marlin today, this could be a Tropic Star Lodge Record for a lady releasing that many blacks in 1 day. Michael Stewart was left to bring in the fourth.
Susanne Deason who had never caught a billfish before released a personal grand slam today with a Blue, a Black and a two Sailfish. This lady has had an incredible week so far. She released 2 Black Marlin on her first day of fishing and 2 Blue Marlin on her second day of fishing.
Delora McEneney and John McEneney fished the Miss Spain; John almost got a Grand Slam on the 26th when he released a Black and a Blue Marlin, Delora got the Sailfish though so they did get a Grand Slam for the boat. John was delighted to release a Grand Slam on the 27th though. It was John’ first ever Marlin releases.
Justin Pate was ecstatic releasing a Black and David Pate a Blue Marlin.
Tim and Alicia Raines were not excluded in the Marlin Boom! Alicia released 2 Blacks today and Tim a Blue Marlin, their boat released 3 Sailfish as Well!!
William Kluczkowski released a Black, Blue Marlin and a 233 Yellow Fin Tuna while his parents Arnaldo and Caroline and his sister Jane cheered on, Caroline also released her first Sailfish, well done!
Jason Craig released his first Black Marlin and his sister Jackie and Mom Ann were happy releasing their Pacific Sailfish.
Wow is this MARLIN Fishing or what?
Frank Kosi fished with his mom, Gwen Kosi and released a Blue Marlin and 3 Black Marlin. He also caught a 172lb Yellowfin Tuna.
Bernardo and Tereria Garcia’s luck would just not cooperate, they broke 2 good Marlin off, managed a Striped Marlin release and 5 Sailfish, better luck next time guys.
The charming Draper family with Joe and Christine Draper and their children Stephanie and Chris had a good time fishing on the Miss Panama Chris, 16 years old had the wonderful opportunity of releasing a Grand Slam: Black, Blue Marlin and Sailfish. This was Chris’ first ever Black Marlin and was estimated at 500lbs. Joe who gave the Black to his son was happy with a well sized Blue Marlin. Christine and Stephanie released Sailfish and Stephanie caught a 56lb Dorado - awesome fishing guys!
Special thanks to Stephanie for singing on Christmas eve, this girl has some voice and attitude and ought to go far with is.
Jacqueline Craig caught a nice Yellowfin Tuna of 148lbs on the Miss Darien. Jason Craig released a nice Black Marlin as well.
James Kerley fished a half day on arrival and released a Blue Marlin, he went on to release another Blue and a Black Marlin, Vicki Kerley got to release her first Blue Marlin as well. Pretty amazing fishing.
Tim and Alicia Raines with Dennis and Nidia Melton returned to fish with Captain Chito on the Miss Scandia and what impressive fishing they had. In three and a half days fishing they were happy to release a Grand Slam and ended with 5-Blue Marlin and 1-Black marlin plus 4-Sailfish . This was a first on Black Marlin for Alicia! Hard to beat this kind of fishing anywhere!
John and Max Samuel our Swedish clients fished only three days and released a Blue marlin on Friday. John Samuels also hung a 136lb Yellowfin Tuna.
Michael Stuart and Darcie Hargis got stuck in Chicago but got down in time for Christmas, they had an incredible few days of fishing. First day out, Christmas Eve they released a Blue and a Black Marlin, second day out and they hook up into 3 Blues, 1 Black and a Sail, they end up releasing 1 Black and 1 Sail. They end their 4 day fishing trip with one more Blue and a Striped Marlin plus 2 more Sailfish.
The Pate Family visited and Justin Pate got to release a Black Marlin and a Sailfish, David released a Blue marlin and caught a 130lb Yellowfin Tuna. Christopher Pate got to release his first Sailfish too. Good going guys!
Tight lines,
Hennie Marais
