With 2 tournaments behind us the new season is upon us and produced the following releases this week: 6 Black Marlin from 10 hookups, 7 Blue marlin from 14 hookups and 125 Sailfish!
The Action:
Our Peruvian guests returned and fished the Miss England, the Scandia and the Miss Australia. Together they released 5 Marlin and 49 Sailfish. Anglers Eduardo Romero and Calixto Romero each released their first Black Marlin. Jose Onrubia released his first Blue marlin while Jose and Calixto also released their first Sailfish.
Chuck Moroz made another visit to Tropic Star and brought Nancee James with him. They fished the Miss Tropic Star and released 13 Sailfish.
Fishing the Miss Darien with Captain Walter, anglers Sven Borho and Mark Steele released 1 Blue marlin and 9 Sailfish. They had 3 more bites but could not get a hook set.
Ron Lachut brought his son Jason with him this time and fished with Captain Maso on the Spain. They went 2 for 2 releasing a Black and a Blue marlin. This was Ron’s first Black Marlin and Jason’s first Blue. They also released 19 Sailfish.
Captain Gavilan fished with anglers Antonello Cuomo and Gianluca Donnini from Italy while shooting a TV series. They had good all round action releasing 15 Sailfish, Tunas and Dorados during their first few days. I joined them on Friday, the last day of their fishing week. Needless to say we where looking for that elusive Marlin to complete the show. A nice 500lb + Blue Marlin jumped on one of our lures and 20 minutes later Tropic Star shone again when we released the Marlin in great shape. We then spent the last hour jigging the reef for Amberjack pulling in a 50 pounder. Love the new jigging rod I just got from Hank Altenkirch from Altenkirch custom rods in New York – thanks Hank.
Three generations of Lee’s came down to fish Tropic Star, Todd, Damien and Todd Lee Jr. They were thrilled releasing 2 Black Marlin and 5 Sailfish.
Raleigh Werking with friends David Bulthuis and George Large from Rapalla released a Black Marlin and 8 Sailfish. Dave was quoted, “I travel extensively fishing and this was my best experience ever”. We hope this is a first and not a last for you guys.
Reel Adventures returned to shoot another Fishing Adventure in Piñas Bay with Jeff Aderman, Micheal Barry, Kerris Burris, Robert Arringtom and Robert Bullen. They got into some good action and completed another series of some serious fishing. Robert got some incredible photographs of the Lee’s Marlin, the best marlin shots I’ve ever seen.
