The Marlin bite is as hot as it gets, Grand Slams and up to 4 in a day. What a way to kick into action in the New Season!
Joe Ricevuto invited his business friend Neal Cunningham, together with their wives Bobbi and Cathy for a few days fishing. Well now the ladies are hooked and it is going to be difficult to go without them. Bobbi caught her first Blue Marlin and Black Marlin while Cathy caught her first Pacific Sailfish. Neal not to be outdone, joined Bobbi with his first Black Marlin and Blue Marlin. Joe finishing the week off with his first Black Marlin. Joe will be back however for some more action in the New Year.
Karl Carlton and his lovely wife Gladys came here with high hopes of catching his first billfish. On returning to the dock Karl was more than ecstatic having got a GRAND SLAM on his first day of bill fishing. He released 2 Blue Marlin, 1 Black Marlin and 1 Pacific Sailfish. Not bad for his first attempt at billfish. Now that he had the billfish he went in search of a Roosterfish. Not being able to go wrong, he caught a monster of about 55lbs. On his last day Karl was just as successful with an Amberjack around 40lbs and some more Roosterfish. Excellent fishing for 3 days.
Ron Lachute has been here on a number of occasions where he has caught Black Marlin, but been eluded by a Blue Marlin. Although he hooked 2 on his first day and then nothing on the next, he thought maybe his gremlin was still with him. But this time it was going to be different. On Wednesday, to his absolute delight, he caught his first Blue Marlin. A beautiful specimen of 400lbs. He followed it up with another one on Thursday and then a Black Marlin on Friday to finish off a great week.
Duard and Shelby Lee were in for more than they had bargained for when they brought their grandson Damien to catch his first Blue Marlin. Starting off the week with a GRAND SLAM, what could be better? Damien caught the Black Marlin while grandpa got the Blue Marlin and the sailfish. But it was not to be long before Damien got his Blue as on the next day he got to accomplish his mission with a lovely Blue Marlin for his first. Then he got one more later in the week.
Robert Talt has previously experienced the joy of Marlin, brought his friend James Lemmis to do the same. James released his first Pacific Sailfish on their first day of fishing and then followed it up the next day with his first Blue Marlin. In the meanwhile Rob had plenty of fun with Dorado. Friday was Rob’s turn, and he made good with a monster Yellow fin tuna which weighed in at 258lbs.
Once again the Romero family and friends joined us from Peru. This was to be a trip to remember for a lot of them. Arturo Woodman and Fernando Romero could not have dreamed of the week they were in for. It started off slow but then went crazy, with 3 Marlin on Wednesday, 2 Blue’s and a Black. Thursday was fishing heaven, with 4 Marlin, Arturo with 1 Blue Marlin and Fernando, 1 Black and 2 Blue Marlin.
Calixto Guzman caught himself another one of those monster Yellow fin tuna which weighed in just 5lbs short of Rob’s at 253lbs. Luis Romero was overjoyed when he caught his biggest marlin to date, a monster Blue Marlin of about 650lbs. Dionicio Romero finished of the week with a Blue Marlin of 277lbs.
