Our angler’s could not be happier, with 3 Marlin in 1 day and other’s catching 5 in a week. The season just gets better.
Paul Snider and his lovely wife Marlene had a week that they will remember forever, so much so that Paul is going to bring his grandchild here. Paul started off well with a Blue Marlin on the first day, then a Black Marlin and 2 Sailfish to give him his GRAND SLAM for the week. Congratulations!
Wednesday saw 2 lovely Blue Marlin. Doesn’t get much better than that. On Thursday when he returned with no flags flying we thought his luck had run out, but not yet, lying on the deck of the Australia was a monster Yellow fin tuna which weighed in at 247lbs. Then on Friday to complete his week, Paul caught another Black Marlin and a huge Yellowfin tuna of 171lbs. What a week.
Although they were only here for 3 days, Gary Coil, John Coil, Farley Haralson and Penton Haralson, experienced some of Tropic Star’s amazing fishing. John caught a 250lb Black Marlin for his first Marlin while Farley hooked a monster of 500lbs for his first Black Marlin. John also caught his second Black Marlin on their last day, which was estimated at 350lbs. Not to be left out of the action by their sons, Gary caught a Blue Marlin.
David Jammar caught a lovely Striped Marlin of about 185 lbs while fishing on the Alaska with his friends Charles Willet and Richard Patton. They also had some great Dorado action with up to 8 in a day.
James Vaughn and Janet Lee Maxwell were back for some of the Tropic Star action. James eased into it slowly looking for some inshore action to start off with. Then it was on to the Sailfish and finally it was the big boys. He caught a 300lb Blue Marlin on Wednesday and just needed a Black to complete the week. Taking things down to the wire it was late on Friday when he completed his GRAND SLAM for the week. Congratulations. Just to add some more fun, he tussled with a monster shark of about 800lbs.
Some more regular visitor’s, William Raines and Alicia Laziro, had great action for the 4 days they were here. Alicia showing William up on this trip. Although they both caught a Marlin, William a Black of 500lbs and Alicia a Blue of 250lbs, it was Alicia who had the fish to round of their stay. She caught a whopping great Yellow fin tuna which weighed in at 150lbs. Well done Alicia.
Great rivalry amongst good fishing friends was what could be described as the fun on the Tropic Star. Rodd Snell, Gary Grant and Dennis Quasney had a blast fishing with Alberto. Rodd unfortunately had to watch while Dennis caught his first Black Marlin of 500lbs and Gary his first Pacific Sailfish, and never once a bad word was said by him. Only great buddies can have such a good time together. Next time it’s your turn Rodd.
Roscoe Hazard was accompanied by his boat captain, Vicente Cosio, and friend Axel Valdez. Roscoe was quick off the mark catching a Black Marlin on his first day, with some nice dorado in between. Axel released a Blue Marlin on Wednesday, all the while there being Sailfish around to keep them busy. Roscoe was unfortunate to lose a Yellow fin tuna which was estimated at about 300lbs and would have been the largest for the season so far. We will get the tuna next time Roscoe.
This week’s group of angler’s consisted of people getting together from all over the USA and 2 from Panama to have some friendly rivalry. Action aplenty there was for all of them. Edward Padilla caught his first Blue Marlin. He was joined by Mark Rethlake and Brian Erikson who also caught their first Blue Marlin. Alvaro Mendez came out king of the Yellowfin tuna for the group with a monster of 147lbs.
