Another exciting week of Black Marlin fishing at Tropic Star Lodge. Again many of our anglers achieved their first Marlin release with some going on to even greater heights.
The week could not have started off any better for Marco Fagnani, who on his first day out caught his first Black Marlin and Pacific Sailfish. He then proceeded to catch a Marlin everyday except for Wednesday. Friday’s being a Blue Marlin which brought him a Grand Slam for the week. Marco, the Italian Stallion, was overjoyed with his catch and is already planning his next trip.
Greg Nickels, Mark Shoenicke, Ray Zimmerman and Jim Naja fishing together aboard the Tropic Star were in for just as much fun for the week. All four of them got to catch their first Black Marlin and ended the week with a total of 6 Marlin and the top boat for the week. Well done!
Cantey Smith, Brian O’Dell, David Ingle and Charles Ragsdale divided themselves between 2 boats, occasionally changing places with each other. This strategy worked very well and saw them each catching their first Black Marlin and David getting 3 for the week. They ended the week with a total of 7 Marlin and 2 Sailfish.
Tom Berry, Patrick Coen, Evan Linnet, Alan Howar, Tom Stevens and Ron Stevens used much the same game plan for the week and were rewarded with just as much success. During the course of the week they all got to catch their first Black Marlin and Tom Stevens also caught a beautiful Dorado of 49.4lbs. Their final tally for the week, 7 Marlin and 1 Sailfish.
John Wilson and Nikki Haley had great time aboard the England with Nikki getting to catch her first Black Marlin and John catching 2 Black Marlin and 1 Blue Marlin.
2 of our regular friends, Gordon Bahl and Doug Mack, were back fishing with their favorite Captain Candelo. Gordon got to do battle with 3 Black Marlin and Doug 1 Black Marlin. They had a great time and we look forward to seeing Doug with his family in June.
John Wilson and Louise Dunn both got to catch their first Black Marlin while fishing with Chito on the Scandia. Louise went on to get her first Pacific Sailfish. Louise proved that the ladies can still match the men out there.
Kim Kutsch and Russell Davis each released their first Black Marlin while fishing with their friends William Brown and Stewart Rosenberg aboard the Costa Rica.
John Williamson also released his first Black Marlin.
John Waldrop, who has visited us on a number of occasions, fishing together with Carl Savory released 2 Black Marlin.
