Hennie & Ursula Marais manage to keep you in fish stories. |
Feb 27 - March 4
Fishing conditions are still very hard. We managed 3 black marlin releases and 2 striped marlin releases plus 109 sailfish!
Tuna fishing is still very good with 66 tuna caught, the biggest being 199lbs. With slow billfishing anglers took time to fish for snapper and roosterfish and explore the beautiful coastline of the Darien jungle.
The Action:
The Miss Puerto Rico with Captain Armando had a great week releasing a black marlin, striped marlin and 9 sailfish. Anglers Mitchell Monroe, Thomas Logston, Sherwood and Angela Gill were the lucky anglers. Tom caught his first black marlin, Angela and Tom their first sailfish.
Marc, Jordan and Robbie fished the Miss Alaska. They worked real hard but the fish evaded them. They released 6 sailfish, tuna and Dorado - next time guys.
Gerald and Jeff Orendorf, Bob and Rob Adleta fished the Miss Scandia and Costa Rica - they released 22 sailfish. Jerry brought in a beautiful 199 pound yellowfin tuna!
Michael Feinstein fished the Miss Canada with Sidney and Beulah Sikaffy. Michael released a nice 450lb black marlin and Beulah showed the boys how to catch sails - well done!
Ralph and Sean Feinstein released 15 sailfish on the Miss England.
Claudio Camera Roda, Guiseppe Bonetti and Sergio De Tommasis came all the way from Italy. They fished the Miss Australia and released 1 striped marlin and 10 sailfish.
David and Kristi Kantor and Colin and Linda Kantor fished the Miss Island Star. They released 9 sailfish. For David, Kristi and Linda it was their first sail release. David had been on a personal quest for sailfish and felt more than proud of the number of sails he released this week.
David Jamar and Chuck Willet fished the Miss Scandia and released 18 sailfish - well done! They also hung some large yellowfin tuna on the scale.
John and Matt Shkor fished the Miss Spain and released 13 sailfish.
The Monjo family visited us again from Spain. They fished the Miss Panama and Tropic Star. Raphael released a nice striped marlin. Paloma released her first sailfish. Jaime released a nice black marlin on the Miss Panama.
Weather:
Rough seas, cool sea breeze.
Gone fishing,
Hennie
