Jan 2 - 7
The January bite is on! We had 30 marlin raised and 15 released, 212 sailfish released and 318 dolphin fish. High number of sailfish is unusual for this time of the year but nobody is complaining.
The Action:
The Miss England released two black, two blue marlin and 21 sailfish. Anglers Roy, David and Doug Ingram were the lucky anglers. Doug caught his first blue marlin.
The Miss Scandia has been right on the fish and had a good week with one black, two blue and 13 sailfish released. Frank Sapsford and Jonathan Bayliss stayed focused when they hooked into two blue marlin at the same time and released both of them, hoo haaa. These guys have paid their dues. Nicole Bayliss released her first striped marlin, great to see you all keep the English flag flying.
The Miss Puerto Rico with anglers Don and Sammie Bricker caught an amazing 75 dolphin fish, (we have been catching dolphin over 60lbs quite frequently.)
They did not get any marlin but released 25 sailfish.
Carl Lindell, brought his son and fishing buddies Russell Lindell, Ewell Smith and Ron Weisser they released 14 sailfish - almost all on fly rod, well done guys.
Dr. Tobey Williams and John Cushing worked real hard on the Miss Panama but just could not get their raised 5 marlin, released 16 sailfish. Next time Doc...
The Miss Canada with rookie captain Jose has been on the fish as well. Anglers Jason Canin and David Thatcher released 1 blue, 1 black marlin and 14 sailfish. Friends Robert Browning and Arthur Spivey fished the Miss Darien also with rookie captain Walter and released two blue marlin and 16 sailfish.
Jim Moore released a blue marlin then lost a second black marlin on his 50th birthday, later he watched his son James release a blue marlin.
John, Shawn and Courtney Taylor fished the Miss Island Star. John fought a blue marlin for four hours on 30 lb line - well done John.
Jeffrey and Nicholas Berenson fished the Miss Spain for 3 days. They released 16 sailfish and Nicholas was very proud of his striped marlin release.
John and Joseph Duncan fished the Miss Costa Rica, John released his first Pacific blue marlin and Joseph had bad luck when his 700 lb black marlin broke off after one hour - great job guys.
Weather:
North wind, choppy seas, hot sunny days.
Gone fishing,
Hennie
