Hennie & Ursula Marais manage to keep you in fish stories. |
Jan 30 - Feb 4
This past week we released 6 black marlin, 8 blue marlin and 3 striped marlin as well as 209 sailfish!
Fishing conditions were difficult with cold water and a strong north wind.
The Action:
We had two boats with Grand Slam weeks! Miss Australia with Martin and Elaine Hirsch released a blue, black, striped marlin and 19 sailfish. The Miss Scandia released a blue, black, striped marlin and 3 sailfish with anglers Anthony Pietranello, Luke Spano and Vincent Novelli.
There are not many places in the world where one can catch a grand slam in 6 days of fishing.
The Miss Alaska released 2 black marlin, 1 blue marlin and 21 sailfish with anglers Mal Linthwaite and Wayne Regelin.
Dr. Bill and Drynda Crookshank fished the Miss Island Star and Bill released a nice blue marlin.
Carol Schorr, an old time friend and client fished with her favorite Captain - Dagoberto on the Miss Panama and released a blue, a black and 13 sailfish!
Dr. Bruce Brown and Dr. Keith Edwards fished the Miss Costa Rica and released 21 sails but just could not get that elusive marlin. We are looking forward to Keith’s review on our new menu.
Thomas and Carolyn Brownridge fished the Miss Darien with Captain Walter. They fished real hard and released a blue marlin and 17 sailfish while missing 3 marlin on Friday - tough luck.
Mark and Matt Fizulich, William Eoler and Joe Manna fished the Miss Canada, they were out of luck with marlin but released 7 sailfish.
Thorsten Ritter and Richard Steward fished the Miss Puerto Rico and released 1 blue marlin and 20 sailfish.
Jordan Pearlman and Tony Wood fished the Miss Spain and released 1 blue marlin and 18 sailfish.
John and Helen Gehan fished the Miss Tropic Star and released 1 black on the first day out and ended with another striped marlin and 30 sailfish.
Billy Wagner, Mr. Liles and Robert Korose and Victor Tedesco fished the Miss England, they released 20 sailfish.
Carolyn Hewitt, Tony Wood and Richard Steward released their first blue marlin, Mal Linthwaite got his first black marlin and Richard also released his first sailfish.
All and all the fishing was slow for this time of the year, it looks like the season may peak in March as it did last year.
Gone fishing,
Hennie
