July 7 - July 14
Todd Pays and David Jones can only describe their time here as a dream experience. Both Todd and David caught their first Black Marlin on the first day of fishing. To this they added 2 Roosterfish (20-30lb’s), 50lb Snapper and a 40lb Tarpon and they did all this in 1 day. The next day they had fun with the sails and another 7 Rooster’s. Then it was back to marlin, with a lovely 400lb Black Marlin and 6 Wahoo. By the end of their stay they had added Tuna and Dorado to their list.

BJ Crookshank started his week with an epic tussle with a 235 lb Yellow fin Tuna while his father Billy took some awesome photo’s of his battle. To BJ and Billy’s joy the battle ended in victory after 45 minutes. BJ released a Striped Marlin on the Thursday. Later in the week Billy hooked into a 450lb Black Marlin on 30lb tackle, needless to say there followed a long tiring fight for the fish and the angler. Once they got the release they added a 50lb rod to the fight and got the fish to the boat still in good condition and released it unharmed.

Zack Grossman accompanied by Robert McMichael had a lot of fun while fishing on the Panama with Dagoberto. He released his first Pacific Sailfish on fly while the two of them caught another twelve sailfish. They also had fun with the wahoo, catching 6 in the 30lb range.

George Cummons and his son Cole might have only been here for 2 days, but they got what they came for. Both George and Cole released their first Pacific Sailfish. By the end of day two they had released 9 sailfish.

Carl Atkinson and Sonia van Tonder together with Carl’s children Caroline, Sarah and Connor came for a week of fun and relaxation. Sonia caught her first Pacific Sailfish while the rest of the family added to their tally from previous visit’s to Tropic Star Lodge. Caroline catching a monster Rooster fish of 50lb’s.

Regular visitor’s Yvonne and Rick Buckley were once again here in Yvonne’s quest for Marlin. This week, unfortunately for Yvonne, produced a lot of sailfish for her but no marlin. She did however have fun catching 9 Rooster fish and 7 Wahoo. We look forward to your return in September.

Another regular visitor, Michael and Shiela Bonsignore, brought their daughter Michelle and grandson’s Cole and Connor Charlton. Michelle watched patiently while her son Cole caught his first Black Marlin and Connor his first Pacific. Then she joined in on the action to catch her first Pacific Sailfish and Cole his first Pacific Sailfish. Look forward to Michael and Shiela’s return February ’08.

Returning for the second time was Peter Kim & Geraldine Tye, together with their children Jonathan, Natasha and Vanessa. Fishing with Gavilan on the Island Star they caught 10 Sailfish, 11 Yellow fin Tuna and 4 Rooster fish for the week. Geraldine and the girls taking some days off from fishing to enjoy some time at the beach and kayaking in the bay.

Once again we had a group of friends who came for a week of good fishing and friendly competition. Michael Courtemanche getting to release his first Blue Marlin, while David Ellison, Michael Ubieta and Wes Shields caught their first Pacific Sailfish. Hal Brunson released a lovely Black Marlin of 300lbs. The rest of the group got in on the sailfish action too.

Catch for the Week:
Black Marlin 8
Blue Marlin 1
Striped Marlin 1
Pacific Sailfish 97
Yellowfin Tuna 76
Dorado 7
Amberjack 3
Roosterfish 24
Snapper 11
Wahoo 19
