June 10 - 16
June remains one of my favorite months at Tropic Star Lodge. The Blue Marlin bite was red hot this last week! We had 4 boat GRAND SLAMS and two personal GRAND SLAMS with 21 Marlin releases.
The Action:
Most anglers opted for our shorter stay this week.
Tom McCall fished with buddy John McKinney, Tom caught a Grand Slam - Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin and Sailfish! Tom had one of the most amazing fishing weeks that I have seen - well done!
Frankie and son Guillermo Mirandes fished with Captain Walter on the Darien. They released a good Black and Blue Marlin. Guillermo was ecstatic with his first Marlin. On their last day they went fishing on the Panga and Guillermo was rewarded with a potential Junior World Record Jack Crevalle - well done Guillermo!
The Dallas boys visited again - Ronnie and Chase Williams together with a great group of friends,
John and Jackson McKinney.
Ronnie and Chase released a Grand Slam, 2 Blue Marlin, a Striped Marlin and 4 Sailfish in one day. Chase got his personal Grand Slam as well, hoo haaaa!
John and Jackson fished with Captain Jose and released 3 Blue Marlin, 2 Black Marlin a Striped and Sailfish, they caught 4 Marlin in one day!
Jerry Kissick, Rod Douglas and Ron Brittian fished the Miss Panama and they released a Black Marlin, 2 Blue Marlin, 2 Striped Marlin and 5 Sailfish - and these were all their very first Marlins!
Aaron and David Magier joined David Ribler and fished the Miss England. They released 1 Black Marlin, 2 Blue Marlin, a Striped Marlin and 5 sailfish. Aaron Magiers got his first Black Marlin, a boat Grand Slam day for all. Aaron is spoiled for life - first day out with David Ribler and they released FOUR Marlin!!!
Richard Neff and his son fished with Armando. They had less luck but managed a very nice Black Marlin which was Richard's first!
Captain Chito put the Scandia in the right place and released 3 Blue Marlin, one Striped and a Sailfish - a week grand slam for Anglers James Curtis and Carl Spina who were totally thrilled.
Tom Shirly and his friend Jerry Oliver caught Black Marlin, 2 Blue Marlin and Striped as well as some Sailfish - not bad for the first time anglers to Tropic Star Lodge.
Weather: calm seas with sunny days, rain at night, a good drift line with the usual trees and flotsam gave us a great target area. Best baits this week were small Yellowfin Tunas.
Tight Lines
Hennie
