June 3 - 10
This week was a fun week here at Tropic Star Lodge. The Nelson Perez group returned for their annual invitational tournament. This is a neat group with a fun attitude. The rains could have dampened some spirits, but not with this crowd.
The rains formed a green and blue line offshore. Later in the week this line held lots of bait and plenty logs. The sails seemed to prefer the dirty green water in close. The stripes and blues and blacks hung further out in the blue water.
The Roosterfish are still here and available for those seeking a great snapshot with an exotic. One big grouper was snatched form the rocks.
All the guys are amped and ready for a strong Marlin run which is on the brink. We are seeing tons of small tuna and lots of Bonita.
The following numbers will give you a good idea of what took place this week:
Black Marlin 1
Striped Marlin 2
Sailfish 183
Tuna 123
Dorado 23
Roosterfish 45
Snapper 4
Wahoo 1
A majority of tuna were smaller football sized tuna. There were a few larger fish in the mix, and a couple mules that pulled the hooks.
Marco Sequeira released his first Striped Marlin and his first Roosterfish.
Jim Doersom caught his first Dorado and his first Roosterfish. Those fish were 35lbs and 50lbs.
Joe Hasler released his first Pacific Sail and his first Roosterfish.
Carole Bifani released her first Sailfish.
Ben Robinson released his first Pacific Sailfish and his first Blue Marlin and his first Roosterfish.
Jackie Robinson released her first Sail and her first Rooster and her first snapper.
Julia Williams released her first Sail and her first Cubera Snapper.

Brian Botsford released his first Pacific Sail and a 50lb Rooster.
Steven Donaldson released his first Sail.
Lori Donaldson caught her first Dorado and her first Sail.
Gary Lemon got married and caught his first Pacific Sail.
Melissa Lemon was the bride of the week. She landed a husband and released her first Pacific Sail. Good luck you two.
Paul McDuffee released his first Roosterfish and his first Yellowfin.
Henry Hurt caught a Pacific Sail and a 50lb Roosterfish.
Carl Horton released a 65lb Roosterfish,
Matt McDuffee released his first Pacific Sail and his first Roosterfish.
