June 3- June 8
A week of excellent Fishing for our guests. Ronnie Williams Group held their "Fun tournament". Clyde and Lyn Owens were real troopers joining the Williams Tournament and having a lot of fun in doing so.
The Ron Williams Tournament was held from the Sunday to Wednesday and was a team effort with the results as following:
Thomas McCall and John McKinney, took first place in the tournament- congratulations! They had a lot of excitement with Captain Gilberto who released 15 Sailfish on their first day out, their numbers stayed high with 12, 20 and 11 Sails released for the next three days of fishing.
We thoroughly enjoy Ron and his son Chase Williams returning on a regular basis to Tropic Star Lodge. Ron has been declared our “Texas Ambassador”. They were happy to take 3rd position with Captain Alberto and enjoyed releasing 45 Sailfish for the week and had a blast bottom fishing as well.
The Gregory family returned to Tropic Star Lodge and this time Jim brought his brother Bob with their sons Justin and Paul. They fished the Miss Canada and the Miss Australia, rotating between them. Miss Australia had 55 Sails for the week. Bob, not only released his first Pacific Sailfish but his first Striped Marlin as well. We declared Bob a true workaholic! Justin caught a nice 45 pound Snapper. The Miss Australia team took second place in the tournament. A good time was had by all and I know they will be back.
Rodney Douglas teamed with Mike Mendenhall and fished with Captain Dagoberto on the Miss Panama. Both of these anglers went home with a Marlin Release. Rodney his first Blue and Mike his first Black Marlin. Mike said that his mission in coming to Tropic Star Lodge was to get a Black and he did it!
Ron Brittian who lives in Argentina met with is son, Michael, who lives in the States to have some fun fishing. They fished for 4 days only and released 29 Sailfish for the week. This was Michael's first Pacific Sailfish.
Another father and son team, Darrell and Matt McCallum had a whale of a time. Matt was mega excited by his First Black Marlin release! They released 23 Sailfish during their 4 days of fishing.
Edgar Benes returned with is son, Brett and they fished for everything. Brett is only 13 years old but an avid fisherman just like his dad. Edgar had an exhilarating fight with a Blue Marlin and was happy to take home the certificate for it. Not only did they release the Blue, 36 Sailfish but had a lot of fun releasing some good sized Roosterfish, Amberjack etc. Brett weighed in a 56lbs Dorado!
Newcomers James Powell and Eugene Patterson were impressed with their 33 Sailfish released, a first Sailfish release for both of them.
Charlie and Tom Kunkel and their friend Jim Collier fished with Captain Libardo and released 40 Sailfish between them. They were all first timers with First Pacific Sailfish releases.
Lyn and Clyde Owens fished with Captain Maso aboard the Miss Spain and released 23 Sailfish for the week, a first for both Clyde and Lyn.
Mike and Michael Aixilla visited for a few days from Miami, Michael released his first Pacific Sailfish. they fished for 3 days and released 12 Sailfish, 3 Roosterfish and 2 Snappers.
