Marlin Mr. Joe Lopez Sr. who first came to the lodge in the '60s returned with his sons and a fun group of friends. What a week for the Lopez group, one of which was Doug Cone, who became a legend when it came to helping one of them catch their first Marlin. On the first day Gerald Nativio got to release his first Black Marlin. Day 2 was the turn of Andy Massaro. Then on Wednesday they stepped up their game and Nick Ficarrotta and Vincent Palori both caught their first Black Marlin plus 1 more each, while Doug caught a Pacific Sailfish ending their day with 4 Black Marlin and 1 Sailfish. Joe Lopez Sr. was a proud father on Thursday when all 3 his boys, Joey, Mark and Allen Lopez, released their first Marlin on three different boats. What a week for Doug and his friends with Captain Candelo on the Miss Australia. They totaled 8 Black Marlin, 1 Blue Marlin and 2 Pacific Sailfish for the week!

Not to be outdone by dad, Michael Palori caught his first Black Marlin while fishing together with Frank Kane. Frank caught his first Pacific Sailfish. This group had fun with the smaller fish too, Allen Rogers battled a 97lbs Yellowfin Tuna, Andy Massaro releasing a 30lb Roosterfish, George Lorton a 30lb Snapper and Michael Palori a 40lb Rooster.

One of our regular visitors, Chuck Moroz, was joined by his fishing buddy Donald Cocnavitch. The 2 of them had a very exciting week with Donald catching his first Black Marlin and Pacific Sailfish. Chuck was exhausted on Tuesday after a 1.5 hour battle with a Black Marlin that was foul hooked near the dorsal fin. They ended with week with 2 Black Marlin, 1 Blue Marlin, 1 Sailfish and 13 Tuna.

Dolphin Todd and Lisa Stuart got just what they came here for. Todd got his first Black Marlin and then another one later in the week. Lisa also caught her first Black Marlin, a beauty of 400lbs and the biggest of all 3. This fish was tagged with a satellite tag as part of a research program.
