May 14 - May 20
There was a diverse group here this week. They all
came to have a good time, and a good time they had.
The rains have started in the afternoon. Sometimes
they last all night. Other times, there is just a
light shower to cool things off. The rain causes
fresh water and debris to flow out of the rivers. This
debris jump-starts the food chain. We found this
current line loaded with timber and bait. It was a
great time to be offshore. The manta rays were
jumping. The porpoise were everywhere. We saw a few
tuna busting. There were turtles all over. There was a
marlin feeding right in front of the boat. It was
excellent.
The marlin showed up late in the week. 6 marlin were
caught one day. Most of them striped. The sails are
still here and so are the smaller Tuna.
The tally for Sailfish was 201 released. There were
2 Blue Marlin and 5 Striped Marlin released too.
76 tuna made the sushi lovers happy, as did 11 Dorado.
53 Snapper, 4 Grouper and 2 Roosterfish were played by
our guests as well.
Phillip Larson caught and released his first Striped
Marlin with Captain Jose aboard Miss Canada.
William Speth caught his first Striped and his first
Sail while fishing with captain Maso aboard Miss
Spain. Jack Kaltner did the very same.
Jessie Bull caught her first Blue Marlin.
Craig Seelmen and Judy Hamilton shared their first
Blue Marlin. One finished what the other started.
These two released their first Sails as well. This
crew was aboard Miss Puerto Rico with Captain Armando.
Luis Brau, Ricardo Ortiz, Adalberto Lopez and Jaime
Soler fished with Flaco aboard Miss Alaska. They
managed to release 4 Sails and 2 Striped Marlin. Luis
Brau released his first Pacific Sail. Ricardo released
his first Striped Marlin and his first Sail. Adalberto
released his first Sail. Jamie managed to tag his
first Striped Marlin as well.
Andrew and Ben Coppin released their first Pacific
Sails. They came a long way with their Dad Brian and
other brother Peter. These guys flew from Western
Australia. I had the pleasure of fishing with this
family one day. It was a blast. I look forward to
fishing with them sometime in the near future. Look
for some of Andrew's photos in the near future. They
should be posted on the web soon.
Patrick and Sharon Ellis might be the nicest people I
have ever met in my life. They both released their
first Pacific Sail. They were very well rounded.
Patrick caught a 50lb Cubera. Sharon released a
50lb Roosterfish. She boated a 50lb AJ and a
50lb Dorado.
John and Sally Guitar had a ball releasing 46 Sails
aboard Miss England with captain Gustavo. These two
also caught a few Grouper and a bunch of Snapper and
Tuna as well.
David Agnew caught and released his first ever Pacific
Sail.
Gregory Akers, Gregory Gosnell, Paul Bauer and Phil
Miner came south to release their first Pacific Sails.
These guys fished with Candelo and Dagoberto. They
released a bunch of sails.
Gary and Peter McAntee, Alvin and Howard Goldstein,
David Bodansky and Henry Back came down and stayed in
the Palace. They had a blast. They released a bunch of
Sails a Striped Marlin. This crew fished with Libardo
and Gilberto.
That is a taste of what is happening down here...
Hasta próximo Semana.
Until next week.
