WOOOOHAAA THE BITE IS ON!
We released 486 sailfish, 6 marlin, 98 tuna, 19 dolphin, a snapper, 4 roosterfish (1 over 70 lbs) and a potential junior world record, nowhere else but Tropic Star Lodge!
The Action:
This week we had Nelson Perez hosting his annual friendly Tampa Bay Tournament. Nelson sure is a great ambassador of Tropic Star and brought a number of first time anglers with him on this trip plus the Fishers who have been coming for years.
Wade Moose and his wife Donna and daughter Emily had an unbelievable week, not only did Emily catch a potential junior world record rainbow runner of 7 lb 4 oz they caught a black marlin, 31 sailfish, a 73.5 lb roosterfish and to top it all a 225 lb yellow fin tuna that kept them going for over 4 hours! Now where can one catch all these fish when its your first time deep sea fishing but Tropic Star lodge? Well done to Captain Jose and Mate Arnulfo.
The Tampa International Billfish Tournament 2004 released a total of 6 marlin, 412 sailfish, 98 tuna, 19 dolphin 1 snapper and 4 roosterfish.
Top Angler in the mens division was Gene Schlichtman followed by Tom Fisher. The top Lady angler was Kelly Fisher - well done guys. (Vivian had Nelson promise that he would not compete which meant there was a chance for everybody else).
Trophys went to:
Dolphin 50 lb Joey Fisher
Yellow fin Tuna 53lb Gene Schlichtman
Roosterfish 73.5lb Donna Moose
Snapper 22lb Sam Pollock
Thanks to all the rookie anglers as well as the seasoned anglers for having such a great time - see you all next year.
We had clients join their group later in the week. Melinda, Doug, Matt and Zan Gonano fished with Maso and had a very good time releasing a good number of sailfish and Zan released his first striped marlin.
The Miss Island Star and Puerto Rico fished 2.5 days and released over 60 sails with anglers Will White, Michael McCloskey, David Sinclair, Jonathan Hayes, Mitchell Hunter and Tom Nolan.
Weather:
Great fishing weather. Except for Friday when we got 6 inches of rain in 12 hours, guess the rainy season is here.
Tight Lines,
Hennie
