Sept 17 - 21

Yet another amazing Marlin bite to close our last week of the 2005 season. We had 9 anglers releasing their first ever Marlin and 15 anglers with their first Pacific Sailfish. We released a total of 9 Black Marlin, 5 Blue Marlin and 44 Sailfish in 4 days of fishing! A great way to end our 2005 Season!

The Action:

Long time Captain and writer, Karl Anderson along with his dad Kris Anderson and friend David Ryon returned after 10 years and fished with Captain Gustavo. They were very happy to release 3 Black Marlins and 12 Sailfish - a trip of a lifetime! Karl’s observation after 10 years is that fishing at the lodge is now better than ever, thanks Karl.

Steve Mote put together a fun group of fishing friends, a mixed group of veteran anglers and first timers. They fished for 3 and a half days only and released 11 Marlin. Tropic Star is the Field of Marlin Dreams! They also released 33 Sailfish! They are planning on returning in May 2007 when they plan to attend a “week of fishing school” - Well done guys hope to see you all back here soon.

Karl Anderson also won the little fishing tournament they had with the Steve Mote group. Instead of hitting the casino when he got back to Panama City, Karl generously went ahead and signed all of Steve Motes group up with IGFA making them all first time members. Thanks Karl.

Mike Myatt from the IGFA visited Tropic Star Lodge for the first time and fished with Raleigh Werking. He released a Grand Slam his first full day of fishing consisting of a Blue Marlin, Black Marlin and Sailfish. The last billfish of the season was caught the last hour of the last day by Mike as well- a huge 650lb Black Marlin!

First Black Marlin:
Donnie Clark, Stuart Fleming, Mark Guadagnoli, Mike Mona, Kirk Smith & Mike Myatt. First Blue Marlin Matt Warfield, Tim Czysz, Carl Weirich, Dave Ryon & Mike Myatt.

First Pacific Sailfish:
Cliff Haley, Steve Mote, David Ashton, Donnie Clark, Tim Czysz, Barry Aron, Eric Grainger, Stuart Fleming, Mark Guadagnoli, Ken Clark, Craig Earnshaw, Mike Mona, Carl Weirich, Boyd Granger, Dave Ryon & Mike Myatt.

It has been a fantastic fishing season, a record occupancy year for Tropic Star Lodge. Ursula and Myself would like to extend a special thanks to all of our wonderful clients, great staff, captains and mates that spend so much time with you. We are looking forward to seeing you all next year!
