Hennie & Ursula Marais manage to keep you in fish stories. |
Sept 2 - Sept 9
We are winding things down here at the lodge. We are getting ready to start the off season and do some modifications to the resort and revamp the boats. A few boats are already boasting fresh paint jobs, the rest are business as usual.
The boats have been finding Black Marlin when fishing the reef or nearby. Others are dragging baits further offshore and finding blue Marlin in deeper water. The inshore fishing is still producing some really nice Roosterfish.
Offshore there was pretty water and loads of debris from the high tides and rains.
We experienced an earthquake last sunday, it was a 5 on the richter scale. There was no tsunami.
Miss Costa Rica released 8 Roosters in one day along with a mixed bag of inshore species. 1 of their Roosters was roughly 70lbs.
Dr. Waldrop and his son, Mulford caught 3 Marlin with Gustavo on board Miss England.
Barbara Johnson caught her first Sailfish. Cliff Andree and Jeff Sherman caught their first Pacific Sailfish. Shelly Andree covered the board by releasing her first Pacific Sailfish, first Roosterfish, first Cubera, first Dorado and she caught her first Yellowfin Tuna.
Another thing that must be mentioned, after all this fishing, she got engaged on white beach to Mr. Kris Suhadolnik. Congrats you 2!
Thais Ferreira released her first Roosterfish.
Tanner and Price Gunn both caught their first Roosterfish.
Frederico Bricolo caught his first Pacific Sailfish. Andrea Trulli managed to release his first Pacific Sailfish and his first Pacific Blue Marlin.
Jerry Diaz lost a heartbreaker of a Tuna at the boat. He estimated the fish to be over 200lbs. They invested a lot of time and lost it at the boat. His fishing partner Alex Torres released his first Black Marlin as well as his first Cubera and his first Yellowfin Tuna.
Jose Montero released his first Roosterfish.
Manuel Suarez released his first Black Marlin and his buddy released his first Pacific Sail.
There were a couple of private boats that fished the area. They experienced a few slow days and had a few red hot days as well. The Miss Behavin’ angler Jackie Kopp released a 700lb Black and 2 days later Kevin Kopp released a 550lb Black while heading back to Panama City.
I believe they caught 3 marlin for the week and they had some great snap shots of fish dancing just off the transom. Miss Behavin’ is a gorgeous 61 ft Garlington that is all business when it comes to catching fish.
The Gear Up is another private boat that came south. She in a big Hatteras with an enclosed flybridge. This crew found some nice fish as well. They released a 600+ Blue and a few nice sails. I did not get a full fish report, but I know this crew had a lot of fun and we look forward to seeing y’all again. Thanks for the treats.
