April 19 - April 26
Sailfish season has started and they are showing up in more increasing numbers to delight our anglers.
Scott Bishop was the rookie amongst his group of friends when it came to catching sailfish, this however was put to rest when on his first day he caught his first Pacific Sailfish. Then together with the veterans, Rick Woodbury, Scott Bishop, Greg Dodge, Jake Fairclough, Lars Morris, Robert Moore and Nelson Abanto some who are old friends of the lodge, logged up a very good total of 43 sailfish for the week. Scott and Rick also having some good inshore Rooster action, Scott with a 50lb fish and Rick a monster of 65lbs.
Keith Neinast came together with Bruce Williams, Dan Brower and Bill Harrison after their first Pacific Sailfish on their short 3 day stay with us. Keith, not only got his first Pacific Sailfish, but his first Blue Marlin as well. Bruce, Dan and Bill all getting their first Pacific Sailfish plus a few more, altogether they released 14 over the 3 days. Keith and Dan also got in on some Rooster crowing with monster’s of 70lb’s each.
Jeff Black and John Armstrong caught their first Pacific Sailfish while fishing together with their friends John Roe and Robert Franklin on the Puerto Rico and the England. They also got into some good Yellow Fin Tuna when they caught 12 in one afternoon. When they decided to venture inshore they got into some red hot Snapper, catching 25, and a good Rooster bite as well, releasing 5.
Stephen and Russell Reddish, Danny Aubain and Jim Makibbin were back this year unfortunately without Jim’s son, Chris. They were in for just as much fun with Captain Walter on the Darien. Between the seasoned anglers they had plenty of Sailfish excitement and when they went looking for Rooster’s, they were also not disappointed when young Russell caught a giant of 85lbs and dad Stephen caught himself a Grouper of 80lbs.
Another group here for a short 3 day stay was Ben Winton, Lee Winton-Burnette, John Freeland and Richard Spaedt. John and Ben were in on the Sailfish action when they caught their first Pacific Sailfish. Richard meanwhile caught himself a monster Dorado. They also mixed in a bit of Tuna action and then went inshore to catch a couple of Rooster fish and Snapper.
There was plenty of action on all fronts for Jim McFarland, James Murley, Dennis Getman and Malcom Patterson. When they were not hauling Sailfish they were getting in on some Tuna action. And when they got enough of that they went inshore and had a great time with the Snapper, catching 30 in one day to add to a couple of Rooster fish.
Livingston Parson III and Livingston Jr shared the boats Panama and Alaska with Spencer and William Mirriam. They too got to see some of the amazing Snapper bite that has been going on when they caught 10 in one day together with several Rooster fish which they added to a number of Sailfish they had caught.
William Savoca, Thomas Wynne and James McIntosh followed the trend and after releasing 9 Sailfish during their short 3 day stay, they too went and found the Snapper inshore and had a blast catching 22.
