Three marlin in a week, and a father and son enjoying their first marlin together and many more.
Ray Casey and Ian Openshaw had such a great time here last year with their wives; they decided to bring their friends, Ed Jones, David Benson, Stuart Simons and Joe Freeman this time. Stuart left with the biggest smile of all of them after he had caught his first Black Marlin and first Blue Marlin as well as one more Black Marlin to complete his week. Ian was also just as happy when he also caught his first Black and Blue Marlin, which he missed on the last trip. Ed and Joe each got their first Black Marlin while Ray had fun with Sailfish leaving the marlin to other’s as he got his last time. David missed out on a marlin but did catch a Yellowfin tuna which weighed in at about 150lbs.
Mark and Tom Mahaffey returned once again with a group of their fishing friends. Byron Shouppe had not been here for 20 years and was excited to be back here. Leo Lambert on his first trip could not believe his luck; he started off with his first Black Marlin and first Pacific Sailfish on the same day. Later in the week he completed his Grand Slam with his first Blue Marlin. Byron’s memories were rekindled when he caught 2 Black Marlin. Ward Curtis joined in the fun with his first Blue Marlin and Alan Gant Jr. caught a wonderful Striped Marlin. Mark caught his Black Marlin of 450lbs on the last day while Tom got a Black Marlin of 550lbs earlier in the week.
Scott Joyce, Lance Garrison and Rick Foshee got to spend a week of fun and relaxation here. Rick caught his first Black Marlin while Lance and Scott enjoyed a lot of Dorado action. Lance caught himself a Blue fin Trevally one afternoon when they went out on the panga for a bit of inshore fishing.
Martin Firestein and his son Mitchell got to share the joys of catching their first marlin together. Mitchell caught his first Blue Marlin on the first day, and then it was over to Sailfish for a while. Martin finished off their week with a 300lb Black Marlin for his first.
Eric Nickerson was also returning for another spell here at the lodge, this time with Robert LaFrance. Rob started off the week with his first Pacific Sailfish, only for Eric to follow with a 400lb Black Marlin. Rob then followed in Eric’s footsteps and caught his first Black Marlin of 400lbs to round off a week of great fishing.
How would you like to catch your first Black Marlin for a birthday present, well that is exactly what Damon Anderson did, as well as his first Pacific Sailfish. To enjoy this with him was Kevin Simon, who also caught his first Pacific Sailfish, Michael Campaniello, who caught a Black Marlin and Charles Roche.
The Zecco twins, David and Michael also celebrated their birthday’s here with us on the following day. They were joined by Paul Voloshen and Michael O’Driscoll. Paul caught his first Pacific Sailfish while David and Michael O’Driscoll had some amazing tuna action.
Although young Lucy Colonetta and her father Joe could only join their friends Mike Kelly and Parry Robson for 4 days, Lucy still had a great time and caught her first Dorado of 30lbs. Parry also caught his first Black Marlin of about 400lbs.
Michael and Sheila Bonsignore were once again fishing with their favorite captain, Flaco. Michael got another Black Marlin and a Pacific Sailfish while Sheila caught a Yellow fin tuna of about 60lbs and an Amberjack of 40lbs.
