Francis and Margaret Botek could only describe this as a week made in heaven. On their last visit Francis just missed his first marlin, well this time they made up for it all. Francis started off the week with his first Blue Marlin of 600lbs on Sunday. Then on Monday Margaret and Francis each caught their first Blue Marlin. Francis released another 500lb Blue on Tuesday while Margaret another Black on Wednesday. Francis got his second Black Marlin for the week on Thursday. Margaret rounded off the most amazing week with her first Blue Marlin on Friday.

Jonathan Anderson, Craig Comer and Franklin Adams came here as part of Franklins birthday celebration. Franklin could not have asked for a better Birthday present than a 700lb Black Marlin caught on his birthday for his first Marlin, Jonathan doing equally as well with a 400lb Black Marlin for his first. Craig on the other hand caught his first Blue Marlin. Jonathan had a great tug of war with a Yellow fin tuna of 150lbs, he won and supplied sashimi to everyone for a few days with his catch.

Regular visitors to the lodge from Belize were Ralph Feinstein, his son Sean, Michael Feinstein, and his son Ben and Sydney Sikaffy. Sydney having watched all the other’s catch marlin on previous visit’s was this time in the chair when the reel started screaming and caught his well deserved first Black Marlin. Ralph and Sean were also in on the action with Sean releasing a huge Black of 700lbs and Ralph a Blue of 550lbs. Sean caught a lovely Snapper of 50lbs.

Jim and Carol Ricke had fun all around while fishing with Captain Dagoberto on the Panama. Jim caught his first Black Marlin, a fish of 500lbs. They also caught Sailfish and had great time inshore with a number of Rooster fish and some large Cubera Snapper. Not to mention some feisty Dorado.

The Robins’ brothers decided Tropic Star would be a good place for a reunion. And great it was. Sharing 3 boats and taking time out to visit some of the local attraction, they still managed to catch 5 Marlin between the 9 of them. Charles caught his first Black Marlin while Rocco, Ray, Michael and Bert all released their first Blue Marlin. Paul Conole caught a Goliath Grouper that dreams are made of, the monster fish weighing in at 130lbs.

Phil Miner returned for his second visit in 2 months, this time he brought along John Cadena and Mark Reed. Although John and Mark could only stay for 3 days, they had plenty of action. John caught his first Blue Marlin while Mark released his first Black Marlin. With the boat all to himself Phil only managed to release a Sailfish, although he did hook up onto a large Black Marlin. Better luck next time.

Rafael Monjo and his family and friends from Spain came on their annual visit to Tropic Star. Rafael and his son in law Rafael Robollo fished together on the England while Federico had the Tropic Star all to himself. This paid off for Federico as he caught his first Blue Marlin. Their wives in the meantime had a lot of fun spending time over on the white beach.

Aaron Brock and David Armstrong had a lot of excitement fishing with Captain Candelo along the rocks. They caught some monster Rooster fish, with the largest one weighing approximately 60lbs.

Phil Sanders this time brought his lovely wife Deborah with to join him for some fishing in between some jungle hikes. Phil this time caught himself a Striped Marlin which have been rather shy this season.
