Ray Berringer’s Black

Lady Luck was with Debra Buckway when she landed a Swordfish. Three generations of Berringers joined us: Dr. Ray, his son John, and grandson Michael. They were thrilled when Ray released aBlack Marlin, estimated at over 700 lbs., after a 4–hour battle. The
very next day, they returned with a SUPER GRAND SLAM: a 350 lb. Swordfish, 250 lb. Black Marlin, 150 lb. Striped Marlin, and a 120 lb. Sailfish. A new TSL record!!! Bill Long, Jr. fought a 300 lb.Yellowfin Tuna for 2 hours.


Upclose and Personal

In one day, Bruce Berry and Frank Tropea, III had a double header Striped and Black Marlin. The Striper broke the line, but Bruce landed the Black. That same day, Frank released his first Swordfish estimated at 300 lbs! Many big Tuna were lost, but Frank Tropea, IV hung on to an 80 pounder. Bruce and Carol Schorr returned for their second trip this year. This time they raised 7 Marlin, releasing 3 Striped and 1 Blue Marlin. Carol also hooked her first Swordfish. First day out, Suzanne White caught her first Black Marlin. Chuck Moran boated an 83 lb. Yellowfin Tuna.


APRIL:


Jeff Miller completed his quest to catch every species of billfish when he released his first Black Marlin. Barry Yampol returned to catch Sails on ultra light line, beginning with 12 and ending with Sailfish releases on 6, 4 and even 2 lb. line! Bill Huff caught a 70 lb. Tuna, also using light tackle. This month, quad Sailfish hook–ups are the norm. Patrick and Steven Moore and Robert and Ross Burton released 14 Sails in one day, and for the week, a Black Marlin, mucho Sailfish, 63 Yellowfin Tuna, Amberjack, Snapper, Mackerel and Roosterfish. Anglers, James Stuart and Thomas Smith released 25 Sails in a day.


Black Marlin A La Carte

The Rooster fishing was off the charts, and Pam Kalil and her brother Frank Young, released a 60 and 55 pounder, after a 13 Sailfish day! Dr. Lewis Feinman, Sam Melineck and Howard Getz released 104 Sails in four days. Dan Scully and John Brager came home with 40 Sailfish on their last day!
