FISHING HIGHLIGHTS

Geano caught 2 Cubera Snapper over 40 lbs! Geano said the highlight of the trip was the Tropical Rain, the Argentinean Wine, and all the Sashimi he could eat! The Cooper family visited also, mom Randee, caught her first Black Marlin, and all four got their first Sail!

Wes Hixon and his group of 14 anglers joined us. There were lots of “first time” Sailfish caught in this group, as well as a “first time” Black Marlin caught by Dexter White. Wilson Cox and Bob Stewart fished 3 days and Wilson released a Black and they had 12 Sails and lots of Tuna. Our training captains came back with 1 out of 3 Blacks released, go figure!

Another Great Day at Tropic Star!

From Spain, Agustin and Carman Hidalgo, and Luis Carbo spent a week with us. Carman released her first Black Marlin, and they ended the week with 26 Sails, 8 Dolphin, and over 20 Tuna.

Joe Dowdell and Nassim Joaquin arrived to fly fish. They released 25 Sails on fly out of 61 raised. Nassim caught his first Sail, Tuna, Triple–tails, Amberjack and Bonito on fly. Joe had a Blue Marlin on fly for a few jumps!

Yvonne and Rick Buckley were back for their fourth trip and were quite surprised how different the two seasons can be, from the quiet dining room to the great Wahoo fishing. They were amazed how green things were, and enjoyed seeing the different flowers and trees blooming, plus the cooler weather.

Our “Marlin Special” promotion was a great success this year, offered from July through September, the majority of our clients got at least one Marlin during these months. Check our web site for more details about the 2004 Marlin Special promotion, as well as our “Tropic Star Lodge Kids Club” when kids fish for free during these same months.

The action continued with more Sailfish, Cubera Snapper, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo etc. The shows will be in early November or December on TNN Spike TV. Stay tuned!

Their article appeared in the September 2003 issue. Chris and Melissa Fischer of ESPN’s Offshore Adventures arrived in May with famed chef David Traylor aboard the “Go Fisch” to shoot the final episode of their third season. Stratos Magazine ran a great feature story on TSL in their June/July issue. Dave Ferrell, editor of Marlin Magazine penned a memorable September visit, it landed in the December 2003 issue. Sport Fishing magazine’s editor Andy Hahn, wife Leisha and new fishing buddy Joe Porcelli caught 11 different species during their July visit. Look for his upcoming article and great photos. Florida Sportsman’s Frank Bolin enjoyed his visit to TSL, look for his upcoming December 2003 article.
